THE REFERENCE SHELF

Know what
the words mean.

A small library for separating names, specifications and evidence. Written for existing adult readers, without product recommendations.

Brand, model and component

A brand identifies a commercial identity. A model identifies a particular design or revision. A component is one part of a system. Similar names do not establish compatibility, and a brand-wide statement does not describe every model. Keep the exact document and version beside any technical note.

Claims and measurements

A display reading, a laboratory measurement and a promotional headline are not interchangeable. A number only becomes meaningful when the method, conditions and unit are clear. If a method is missing, record the statement as a claim rather than filling the gap with an assumption.

Authenticity and safety

Authenticity concerns origin. Safety concerns risks. Regulatory authorisation concerns the rules of a particular place. Evidence about one of these questions does not settle the others.

Read with a source checklist

  1. Who published the page?
  2. Which model and region does it cover?
  3. When was it updated?
  4. Is a method or primary reference provided?
  5. What remains unverified?
